Inside the project
Client brief
Air & Cosmos is France's leading news outlet on global aerospace, civil and military aviation, defence and drones, with over 1.8M monthly visitors and a mix of free and paid subscriptions for the general public and professionals.
The legacy site was built on a proprietary stack mastered by a small pool of developers. When the historical provider stepped down, the client wanted to fully rebuild the platform on more durable open-source technologies.
Our approach
Working with the client's editorial team, we gathered all internal needs and rebuilt France's #1 aviation news site from the ground up.
The rebuild came with a full visual redesign and new structuring features: an online store, a "community" submission area and an advanced multimedia editor for the journalists (video embeds, rich layouts…).
Once the new platform was live, we migrated the entire content history to ensure continuity for readers. The high traffic profile required specific security measures (anti-DDoS) and an infrastructure able to sustain the peaks.
We also handled managed hosting during the platform's first year of operation.
The project today
By the end of our engagement in 2021, the client fully owned the project, with a stable infrastructure able to sustain peaks of 5M monthly visitors and an evolutive tool to drive long-term growth in the post-Covid aviation industry.
